Kit SloanI am so excited to learn and grow with 6th graders at Hill Country Middle School this year. I recently relocated to Austin with my husband and puppy, Scout, and am overjoyed to be here with y'all.
After spending a wonderful 18 years in the Houston area, I moved to Abilene, TX to attend Hardin-Simmons University (Go Cowboys!) where I completed internships and student taught in Abilene ISD, graduating with my degree in 4th-8th English Language Arts Education from HSU in 2016. After college I moved to the Dallas area and taught in Richardson ISD for two years. While in RISD, I was a finalist for the Red Apple Award for Outstanding Teachers in their first year and took on many responsibilities in planning ELAR instruction as well as student activities. Lastly, let me just say that I truly love teaching middle school students. My life's passion is working with this age group as they discover their own uniqueness and place in the world. I am so honored to be able to teach 6th grade because I had the most wonderful ELA teacher when I was a 6th grader: my OWN MOM! I come from a family of fantastic educators who, by example, showed me how to be a servant to my students. |
